RE: NYC People...I have a question
I wouldn't deal with cabs and I wouldn't deal with driving. The subway is cheap, and it will get you from Ground Zero to Central Park in 15 minutes. I just spent 5 days there and it was a breeze. It is a walking city though. My way is to start downtown and walk uptown and then take the subway back or vice versa. It's a 5 mile walk so with detours and going into places you're looking at 6 or 7 miles. It's a full day but IMO, that's the best way to do it.

As for show tickets; If you line up on Sunday afternoon, the lines aren't crazy at all and you can get most tickets at 40-50% off. At $70-$85 per ticket, it's not so bad. You should expect to wait between 20 minutes and an hour. The Sunday night and Thursday matinee tickets are the easiest to get. If you want anything from Friday night to Sunday matinee, it's really really tough.

The other thing people can do if they don't want to spend $200 per night in Manhattan is to stay in Jersey City, Staten Island, Elizabeth and surrounding areas. You can find good clean hotels for $100 per night, and it's an $8 train ride in that takes around 30 minutes from the Jersey side.

RE: NYC People...I have a question
Well, wonderful news! My NYC trip has been cancelled. Since it was through work I was informed of all of this today. The bad is that I had already purchased my wife's air ticket. I completely understand that my work is in no position to do anything about her ticket since we did it on our own....but it was my managers who said "you could bring your wife and make a mini vacation out of it". Well today when I was told it was cancelled they said "have you already bought her ticket?" I told them yes and the reply I got was "that is part of the risk you take when you plan business and pleasure travel together". Awesome for workers morale!

Yep, sucks...we are going to try and see if we can't work something out and keep it on. If not, hopefully we can negotiate at least a partial refund or something.

At the end of the day, if we can't do a refund, it will just be another lesson learned.

Send her anyway. You could probably use a break.
