Brandon Chillar Selected UCLABruins.com Student-Athlete of the Week
Junior linebacker also named Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Week.

Sept. 11, 2002

Junior linebacker Brandon Chillar (Carlsbad, CA/Carlsbad HS) of the UCLA Football Team was selected as the UCLABruins.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Sept. 2-8.

Chillar, who was also named the Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Week, led the UCLA defense in the Bruins' 30-19 win against No. 19-ranked Colorado State. He had a team-high 10 tackles and picked off a pass. He also forced a fumble on a Colorado State two-point conversion attempt that would have tied the game. UCLA returned the attempt the other way for a score. The UCLA defense limited the Rams to 98 yards passing and 277 yards total offense.

This is Chillar's first UCLABruins.com Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and his career.

Also nominated: Kim Devine (w. soccer), Lauren Fendrick (w. volleyball), Brett Ormsby (m. water polo), Matt Taylor (m. soccer).
