Quote:GA St is in the top 10 largest-enrollment. It's amazing they didn't even have FCS or D2 football.

I'm assuming since they're in Atlanta, it's a lot more expensive to make athletic stadiums and such + the size being so big due to a real high % of commuters/etc. over the years. Those type of schools have a lot more student-count than the division they're in. Kind of like places like Notre Dame or Northwestern are a lot Less student count than you'd think being in high-up D1. Opposite can be true, too.

But yeah, regardless, you'd expect some sort of D2 sorta thing, but I assume they wanted to go all-or-nothing into it all, due to $$ building stuff.

They have some potential if they keep dumping money into the program. Huge media markets and enrollments go a long way.

Our former President was anti football. Was referred to as the F word on campus for many years. We did start club football in 2000.

Panama:

WMU should be great on offense with a senior QB. The receivers are young but are playing great so far. The Defense is mostly invisible and has been that way for some time. The running game has been hard to judge thus far but our #1 has put up some good numbers in the past.

What can you tell me about you guys this year and last year too? Why the 2-10? Was it youth? Injury? Tough division? What are your strengths?

Of course I'm thinking WMU will win but our D is bad enough that you guys could win and it won't surprise anyone. If we lose to you guys, I think the wheels will fall off our bus like it happened to you guys last year after we beat you. But I don't think it'll be a slug-fest like last year, and expect it to be high-scoring.

Played 18 freshmen in the 2 deep. So a lot of growing pains. Best thing about freshmen is that they become sophomores.

Offense under new OC Brad Glen is heavy RPO with a lot of tempo. Serious upgrade from last year.

Is there direct sunlight through the skyview? It may not effect the players on the floor but would be bad for the fans sitting higher up.

I mean, you know what we know now. I am assuming no as that is a view north towards downtown from the south. Assuming there will not be an issue.

GEORGIA STATE'S NEW CONVOCATION CENTER

Plans Revealed

Georgia State has released architectural renderings for its forthcoming convocation center, a large, multi-use facility that will sit at the northwest corner of Fulton Street and Capitol Avenue, just north of Georgia State Stadium.

As Georgia State now graduates more than 10,000 students a year, the convocation center will provide much-needed indoor space for the university’s commencements.

Designed by Atlanta-based architects CBRE | Heery and Perkins & Will, it will feature a glass façade that looks north toward the downtown skyline and a customizable interior that can be configured to accommodate various kinds of events. Hosting commencement, concerts, conferences and other large gatherings, it will also become the home court for Panthers’ basketball games — an enormous improvement over the Sports Arena’s capacity of 3,854.

Eagerly anticipated since its announcement last year, the $85 million project represents the latest addition to the university’s growing campus in downtown Atlanta. The university expects to complete construction in 2022.

“The new convocation center will be the first large, indoor assembly area this university has ever had,” said Mark Becker, president of Georgia State. “With our growing national reputation and record enrollment and graduation rates, it couldn’t come at a better time. It will be a building worthy of our nationally ranked academic programs, our exceptional students and our winning teams.”
