I've said for years that the majority of the BCS would leave the NCAA before they agreed to a playoff in football along the lines of March Madness, and I maintain it is true. The BCS schools could buy off the NAIA for a bargain compared to the payoff they currently have with the rest of the NCAA today and still keep more than enough revenue from both football and basketball, and have a sanctioning body who already has non-profit status.

I think it's actually Bin laden operating from his secret hideout at the bottom of the ocean. He wants to destory the American pastime and corrode the nation from the inside out.

Either that or the BCS used to be a big deal because their $18 million payout was worth waiting for. Now with teams getting hundreds of millions in TV deal, splitting the BCS payout with your conference is not such a big deal anymore. Which every way someone can devise to make the max money is the the direction college football will be going.

What the big six conferences come up with certainly won't include any payout for non big six members. I agree paying athletes is the first shot at separating the semi-pro conferences from the "college" conferences. The big six will use their TV money to increase their separation from the rest of the NCAA.
