Well this article is just simply inaccurate. Mindless drivel from someone who doesn't understand the full significance of being involved in the Atlantic Sun Conference, and fielding successful tennis and communist kickball programs. These schools must be hemorrhaging money, especially with their record enrollments. By the way, how many news stories in the last five years have been done about ETSU having record enrollment? I particularly like this quote from the UNC-Charlotte guy:

"Your academic opportunities open up when you're perceived as an institution of significance and quality, and if you do football right you'll be able to help achieve that," University of North Carolina Charlotte Chancellor Philip Dubois said. "If you do it wrong, it can be counterproductive. So you have to be very cautious, measured and deliberate about what you're doing and how you're doing it. But I do think if the corporate leaders, the business leaders and the employers of the Charlotte region see UNC Charlotte as an institution of significance and quality, they will be more anxious to employ our students; have them as interns; and to talk to with our faculty about research projects and where we can help them."

You do realize that no communist country that I'm aware of has soccer, at least any better than the US. I'm not aware of of USSR as ever having soccer. I'm not aware of China ever having soccer. England has soccer, not communist. France has soccer, not communist, Spain has soccer, not communist. Germany has soccer not communist. Italy has soccer, not communist. Brazil has soccer, not communist. Mexico has soccer, not communist. Notice a trend, I'm getting tired of listing countries.

I don't play soccer, don't know the rules, don't watch it, but even I know that soccer has nothing to do with being a communist.

I almost never come to this board, because every time I do I feel IQ points leaching out of my head. I get sucked in to the stupidity of it, like I'm arguing with "rain man" over the price of a t-shirt.

OK, I'm gone for another 6 months.

Germany at one time was communist, as was East Germany. We all know that's ancient history but most Memphians don't have time for history as they're too worried about the next corrupt politician, police chief or dog catcher you guys elect. How about Cuba? North Korea? China? All communists, all have kickball teams. Go back to the Tiger board and expend more energy hating Tennessee, Ole Miss, Miss. State and all the other big schools that cherry pick the talent that can actually qualify academically out of Memphis.
Oh, and as for the USSR, they only produced what was considered at one time as the greatest goalkeeper to EVER play the game and won gold in the 1956 Olympics. http://russiateam.com/legends/yashin.html Oh, need I remind you that Hungary was also communist at one time, winning gold in 1952. The Czech's also had a solid team until the country fell apart. And one last one, Laos, yes the communist powerhouse of LAOS has a communist kickball team.

FAIL.

We need a real football team back. We also need the NFL lockout to end, and someone in the Timberwolves front office to stop watching Youtube.
