So who in the ASUN is going regional??
Before the ASUN championship takes place, who may be the possible ASUN selections for the NCAA regionals?? With #6 Belmont needing just one win against Mercer, this seems to be a very interesting scenario.

Stetson - it seems they will make it given victories against FSU, Georgia and a 40+ win season.

JU - #2 seeded JU was an at large bid with many websites.

Mercer - was on the brink with many regional bracket predictions, but this strong showing puts them in a very strong position regardless if they beat BU or not.

Belmont - one win and they are in as the #6 seed. Good for them!

ETSU - they got tossed out but still were predicted to be in the regionals. Their early exit hurts.

I would like to think that the ASUN will send 3. It's going to come down to how Mercer fares. I'm thinking....

Belmont, Stetson and Mercer.

Mercer if they can win at least one.

But what the hell do I know!?

What do ya'll think?

RE: So who in the ASUN is going regional??
JU has a better RPI than Mercer...but ETSU's is way better than either of them. Might depend on how much stock the committee puts in RPI. Some of the other sports it seemed like all those NCAA Committees cared about was RPI.

Some results from other tourneys shaking stuff up: 20-39 New Mexico wins Mountain West, makes #7 TCU an at-large bid. Auburn finished .500 and can't go; Georgia is 30-29 and has to beat Florida today in the SEC to be eligible.

EDIT: other huge games for our purposes: Rice-Houston for the C-USA title. UH has a losing record and can't get an at-large, so we need Rice to slam the door on them....FIU vs. UALR tomorrow in the Sun Belt, UALR no chance at at-large, go FIU. Would like UConn to bounce back and take the Big East tournament but they've got a loss and will have to go through Seton Hall plus either St. John's or Louisville. Somebody better take out Missouri in the Big 12. Hope Kent State can get off the deck in the MAC, they'd be on the at-large bubble. Creighton-Wichita State for the MVC title, Creighton at-large candidate, WSU not. Texas State bubble team if they go down in the Southland.

I would expect you all to get in, but frankly you haven't been playing well down the stretch. Seems like any one else would be a reach. The league seems fairly deep and may even deserve one or two more, but with the other results in other leagues, it's starting to look slim.

RE: So who in the ASUN is going regional??
Thanks for the post Jedi.

I'd be pretty surprised if the ASUN had 4 representatives but we'll see Monday.

It seems as though UCF will not host a regional. With that said, I would love to see SU and UCF in the same regional. Probably not likely to happen.

JU, Belmont and Stetson make it. ETSU and Mercer are left out.

Belmont vs Vandy (with Troy and OK State)
JU vs. Miami (with UF and Manhattan)
Stetson vs. NC State (South Carolina and GA Southern)

I'd say Stetson has the most attractive regional. Yet, considering how half the team is banged up, I'm not expecting much from them.

Go Hats!

RE: So who in the ASUN is going regional??
IF JU can get the pitching that they got in the ASC tournament and IF they can push some runs across (which they didn't in the ASC tourney) they stand a good chance of facing UF in the final of the G'ville regional. They hammered UF a couple weeks ago in G'ville. But beating UF in a mid-week game and on the weekend are two different things.
