Phil Steele's Pre-Season All-MAC List
http://philsteele.com/Blogs/2011/May11/DBMay23.html

I find it very interesting that Marlon Pollard and Devin Henderson haven't even taken snap for EMU and are already being mentioned like this. I'm not too familiar with Steele's work so maybe some of you can help me.

Does this mean:
1) Those guys are just that good?
2) Steele is usually too generous?
3) The MAC is not strong at all?

I'm hoping for #1, but any feedback you can offer would be great.

I'm also surprised to see that our punter didn't make the list.
Should that make me wonder about the rest of this list?

A note of caution here. Many of the EMU players in fact three were on the fourth team which means other MAC teams dominated the first three teams. I agree with the punter KPJ. I agree with your comments: Henderson hasn't even attended a Div I practice yet although I like his potential. I would pick Buche over Neal. Pollard hasn't played a down of Div I football yet although his recruiting rep precedes him.

RE: Phil Steele's Pre-Season All-MAC List
LThomas makes sense if he is 100%.

Neal is believed to be the best EMU OL although I think Buche is close. Neal makes sense.

Pollard is an interesting pick. Again he hasn't played a down of college football but someone is reading his press clippings.

Henderson is a completely out of the box pick. I looked at the YouTube film of him and I swear he could a bigger Brandon Pettigrew. He has a crazy 40 time (4.55) which is like a big tailback time.

P.S. I don't believe it UNLESS it was electronically timed in a good track and field meet.

I'd love to see a all-MAC newcomer team. Bet we'll have a LOT of players on it.

BTW, I think the Phil Steele MAC is written by someone from the Cleveland area who writes for MAC websites (not the mainstream media).

I wouldn't be surprised if the writer isn't basing a lot of his picks on what ENGLISH has said publicly.

English said Neal was his best OL this spring. Good enough for an all-MAC team.

Believe Pollard looked like the best DB in spring.

English has always said a healthy LThomas is an all-MAC player and not 3rd or 4th team.

Henderson is a "YouTube Pick". Watch the video and say wow.
