RE: Mwc On Verge of Bcs Tag!!!
On the Espn link they say mwc doesn't meet on 1 of the 3 Basic Criteria for Bcs entrance.

The 2nd link states why the mwc will become a Bcs League by 2013-2014.

RE: Mwc On Verge of Bcs Tag!!!
How is the MWC on the "verge" of BCS tag?

The articles make clear that the MWC will NOT meet the necessary criteria for BCS membership.

Yes, they could appeal, but given the fact that their 3 top programs are going to be exiting the league, the overall dynamic is completely different. Analyst Jerry Palm indicates in the one article that he finds it unlikely an appeal will be successful.

So how are they on the "verge" of gaining BCS access again?

RE: Mwc On Verge of Bcs Tag!!!
Here is why they wont meet the requirements. Using the Colley rankings for past three years.

average rankings for past three years

OLD MWC- that left
TCU 6.3
Utah 13
BYU 28.7

Replacements
Boise 7.3
Nevada 41
Fresno 54.3
Hawaii 56.7

Only Boise compares to those leaving the MWC

Remaining
Air Force 41
San Diego state 79.3
Colorado state 82
Wyoming 84
UNLV 85.3
New Mexico 107

None of the remaining amount to much in past three years.

Old MWC had THREE teams avg top 30 out of nine
New MWC has ONLY ONE team in top 30 out of ten schools

What a stupid header.

First, this article was posted and discussed last week. Second, the article makes it clear that the MWC is a long-shot to win AQ status (and it is better to say AQ, since all FBS conferences are BCS conferences) on appeal.

For fun, here are the same numbers for Big East members, potential targets and those who left for ACC

Big East
TCU 6.3
Pitt 24
WV 24.7
Cin 32.3
UConn 40
USF 47
Rutgers 55.7
Louisville 74
Cuse 75

Those that left for ACC
Vtech13.7
UM 35.7
BC 42

So it looks like with the addition of TCU, the new Big East has done agood job in replacing those that left.

Possible additions
ECU 49.7
Houston 58.3
UCF 63
Temple 71
Memphis 108.7

I guess the Capitals, Flyers, Red Wings and Nashville Predators were on the verge of winning the Stanley Cup based on this defintion of "being on the verge" of something.

Or maybe we could say.....if a big enough earthquake occurs.....the state of Kansas is on the verge of falling into the Pacific Ocean.

Or better yet.......Everyone on this board is on the verge of becoming a billionair.

MWC is on the verge of being AQ as the Panthers are going to win the World Series.

Just out of curiosity, What were to numbers for the three prior to leaving the BE & for the three prior to joining? Did the three who left decline/climb [on average] & did the three who joined climb/decline [on average]? Can we apply those results to possible additions?
