James Strong new asst coach
belmont article

I haven't done any research on him, but short version is played at Vandy and was on Stallings staff after playing, then went to Furman and is coming over from Furman. At first glance seems like a good hire.

I like the hire. It sounds like he is the guy who recruited Furman into contention.

We needed a recruiter badly. Frankly we needed an African American on staff too. I loved watching J-Smoove at Vandy. Very athletic and aggressive. Good guy.

Has Idstrom left the staff as well? He isn't listed as a coach on the website.

I just read the City Paper article. Stetson is now Belmont South with Casey Alexander, Roger Idstrom, and Steve Drabyn on staff. That is a good group of coaches for Stetson. I hate they are all in the same league as us and going to be using some Belmont recruiting connections, but glad they are getting a shot.

Now that James Strong is in place, we have two seasoned assistants. Wouldn't be shocked to see a younger former Bruin come in as an assistant. No inside info, just a hunch. I would love to see us get someone else experience in the recruiting world though.

It wouldn't surprise me too much if they left the last position open and then that position taken by Drew Hanlen after he graduates.

Guess I can stop worrying about Casey, Roger, and Steve being in the same conference as us now! Think we schedule Stetson? I do.

Looks like Mark Price is coming with Strong.

2 good additions for Byrd, we need some help with our last roster spot still. Wonder if any of these guys had leads on Mike Hall and if he could be swayed to Belmont. Granted it's a long shot, but would be a great add for us next year.
