Ricardo Sanchez will be running on the democratic ticket. Ex-commander of the U.S. ground forces in Iraq and obviously Hispanic so that appeals to two core groups in the state. Although he's been anti-media in the past so it will be interesting to see how he deals with the media now.

John Cornyn had a minor challenge in 2008 from a Hispanic candidate. At first glance, I'd say Sanchez could offer up a little bit more of a challenge to whomever gains the Republican nomination in 2012, depending on whether he runs any semblance of a reasonable campaign.

Interesting. I look forward to seeing his platform since, IMHO, you can't get worse than our current pair of senators.

Yea, Cornyn is a joke. Did any of yall see his Cowboy video that was played at the Texas Republican Convention a few years ago? His opponent in the 2008 election was Rick Noriega. Rick is a good man; Afghan War veteran and commanded the Katrina refugee crisis in Houston. He's a straight up centrist and doesnt give you that slimy feeling after talking to him like you do with Cornyn. Unfortunately, he wasnt well known outside Houston and well, a Democrat in Texas.

Hutchinson doesnt bother me so much. I've met her several times and she is a nice lady...probably shouldn't be in politics though.

I can't wait for the Republican race to heat up. Man, its gonna be ugly. There are several high level candidates that have already declared and David Dewhurst is still deciding.
