Ramsey's Selection Marks The 10th Consecutive Season A Cougar Has Been Drafted!!
HOUSTON - The Washington Nationals selected University of Houston senior outfielder Caleb Ramsey in the 11th round of the Major League Baseball draft on Tuesday. The three-day event began on Monday and will conclude Wednesday with rounds 31-50.
With Ramsey's selection in the draft, it marks the 10th consecutive season and the 13th time in the last 14 years that at least one Cougar player was chosen in the annual draft.
Ramsey, a four-year letter winner for the Cougars, was named to the Second Team All-Conference USA list as an outfielder. He started 57 games this season, posting a .318 batting average. In addition, Ramsey led the team with 17 doubles and 46 RBIs.
During his four-year career at Houston, Ramsey has made 187 starts and his 44 career doubles rank as the eighth most in school history. Ramsey also tied the career single-game record with five hits against Texas State earlier this season.
In addition to Ramsey's selection to the draft, future Cougars Aaron Garza (10th; Toronto) and Tommy Collier (22nd; Detroit) were selected in the draft.
