Tulane hasn't won more than five games in a season the past eight years. Not sure they are who I'd want to compete against for recruits.

I read their board. I kills me that so many of them suffer from "illusions of grandeur."

If you look at their record over the past 5 years, they would be a middle of the road SBC team just on won loss alone. And I would dare say that the majority of the SBC plays a hell of a lot tougher OOC than the bull puppies. While the quality of play is improving in the SBC, the Titanic....errrr....WAC is getting worse. They back out of a home and home with the Cajuns to play UCA. Real brave from a football juggernaut!!

Ok, back to the thread at hand, this is a good job by the AD to get this down. Gives us two years with 6 home games and gets a winnable OOC on the books. With all those young players from last year heading into their Junior and Senior years, 2012 and 2013 might be real nice in Monroe. Time will tell.

Actually, on face its a good deal for ULM. I have one question on the agreement, what is the financial part of the contract? In other words, what is ULM paying Tulane to come to Monroe...do they get a percentage of the gate? What is Tulane paying Monroe to come to the Dome?

For me, if those numbers aren't good for the program I would not have signed any deal with Tulane. Tulane is not at the top C-USA program.

My experiences with ULL-people has been extremely positive, and I wish Tulane would play the Cajuns more, especially in basketball and baseball. For football, not every year but rotating with ULM, LT, maybe Southern or Grambling, that sort of thing.

But for now, I'm looking forward to the series with ULM. Should be close games...

I wish we'd renew the series too. I'd think that we'd be a better draw attendance wise for you both at home and on the road. I miss the road trips to N.O. that were frequent in the 1990s.

But I can understand why your admin chose ULM as a safer route. You are more active recruiting in our part of the state than in North LA (and by the same token we're in N.O. alot) so you take on a greater risk of scheduling a loss against us recruiting-wise than you do ULM.

Only my opinion but I don't think there's much weight behind the argument that a loss like that hurts your recruiting. ULM loses to Arkansas every time and loses to ASU every other year yet we haul in a number of Arkansas recruits each year, including a very talented group...six, I believe...from the Natural State this year after losing to both the Hogs and the Wolves in the same season. We've signed players from south Louisiana just as the Cajuns have signed players from north Louisiana. I can't see a high school kid basing his decision on results of a few games when he's really looking at the coaches, facilities, and academics of the schools who are after him. Even if Tulane took both games of the series with ULM, they would sign only a couple of kids from the northern end of the state as a result and those would be kids who want to go someplace else anyway. The population base in the south is such that Tulane is more worried about LSU and Southern Mississippi taking some players away than they would be with ULL.

That would not be correct any longer with Hudspeth. They are watching a number of top athletes come in to UL this spring, including Southern Miss and Houston. They are plenty concerned by the number of visits their recruiting coordinator is spending on the Scout Site.

2012 OOC for ULM is looking like this: @Arkansas, @Tulane, and Baylor plus a FCS team. Opportunities there as opposed to the SEC West that we like to play!! :)

2012 OOC for ULM is set it looks like this @ Arkansas @ Tulane Baylor and @ Auburn
