Thanks, Motown for digging this up from the wayback machine. Great memories.

RE: CCHA Semi-Final #2 UM vs WMU
Was paging thru a NHL prospect / young players. Looks like U Michigan has a lot of NHL-caliber talent currently on their team. Over-rated conference or not, U of M don't seem to have a problem bringing in top-end talent.

They might like talking about that on their boards.

True, but shows what we're up against.

How so? They're in the B1G.
That, and we've been a consistently stronger program for the last 10 years.
Are you ok?

If National Champion is our goal, we need to compete nationally in all facets of the game. Competing against U Michigan is the same as competing against North Dakota, Duluth, or any other team that stands in our way for a National Title. When Alabama recruits, they're not just recruiting against Auburn, they're competing against Ohio St & Clemson. I don't want to hold my hands up & say 'they're a stronger program than us, nothing we can do about it.' Are you happy being mediocre? Don't you want the program to have ambitions? Yes, the NCHC teams are our direct threat & that's a good measuring stick, but we don't want to get into the National Tournament & then get smoked by Michigan. (You know they would put us against Michigan too) Getting smoked by them accomplishes nothing.

Oh I don't know, I see our rankings from the last 10 years, see our NHL and other pro players now, and I think we're doing a great job.
I'd take our program over theirs next year.
Plus.....You're dreaming of scenarios and pretending that they're a reality. Kind of weird.

We have to accept UM is UM & WMU is WMU. UM is always going to bring in more talent. They have a bigger national brand in almost every possible way I can think of.
They also lose a lot of that talent after 1 season. It's like the 1 & done approach Kentucky, Kansas, Duke, & UNC use in college hoops. Those teams don't win championships every year. Teams like Virginia & Villanova who have lesser talent but usually keep the team together for 3 years are often better. UM is Kentucky. I want WMU to be Virginia or Villanova.
Washe, Frank, Attard, & Passolt coming back gives me hope our players believe in that. Wade, McGing, & Mattias made a similar choice.

Precisely. Our boys next year have the talent, depth, goaltending and coaching to where they can be great. I like their upside.
The club in AA is nothing to me until we play them.
