FACT: App State's freshman/first time enrollee applications have skyrocketed in recent years, and I forget how many thousand applications they received after the Michigan win. FACT: Stanford wouldn't have invested millions of dollars in football upgrades if it weren't important. The value is the additional students, which lead to more alumni, which leads to more interest, which leads to more corporate partnerships, which you guessed it, leads to MORE MONEY.
It's not that hard folks, it's really not. UAB wouldn't be building a stadium smack in the middle dealing with Auburn/Alabama if it wasn't vital to the school's growth and survival.
Nevermind the economic impact that an extra 10-20 thousand people hanging out in Johnson City six Saturdays a year would bring. You would see an increase in the restaurant business, an increase in grocery store sales, bar business, campus bookstore business, all of it. At the end of the day no matter what the Mullins little butt lickers spew out, all these other schools would not be adding football atleast to some level if it wasn't VERY beneficial to the university and surrounding community.

Which is exactly why every other school in Tennessee is playing football. MONEY. For every football player, for every band member, for every boy/girl friend, every relative and and for every student that enrolls because the University has a football team, the state will pay ETSU a definite amount of money. That is why every other school in Tennessee cannot afford NOT to have football and is why we should take quick action in January to correct this at ETSU.

RE: Appalachian looking at options
It's not just Tennessee. Why would UAB and Troy fool with it when supposedly you either are a Bama fan or Auburn fan? Why does FIU, FAU, UCF and USF all have programs with three of the four in brand new facilities and the fourth playing in an NFL facility, yet allegedly it's all about Florida, Miami and FSU?
It frustrates the hell out of me seeing this crap that the paid employees and/or their spouses put out on this board. It's embarrassing.
This board is a great example of how bad it's gotten. When I first started posting, we had a fairly good base of people that atleast read, if not participated here. Now, there's nothing. There's just a few of us regulars left, and nothing really active right now and there won't be for another month.

They need a home. I've been reading the C-USA boards lately and they aren't sold on App and App isn't sold on the Sun Belt, though those teams are all building and working on football. FAU has new digs, North Texas has new digs, FIU's is relatively new, etc...

We need our new president to work and get their spot in the SoCon. This is the opportunity we have been waiting for. Boy do we need a real president right now.
