RE: KSU vs. Akron
To me, they looked tired. They didn't seem to have the same bounce and it didn't help that Marshall played a good game in the middle. There were a couple of matchup problem (Porrini on McKnight didn't work at all), missing free throws I blame on fatique and although I am happy that the team has done so well this year, I (and I'm sure the team) am disappointed they couldn't pull this one out with less than their A game available.
The team lost 5 games against MAC opponents. One without Guyton, one getting killed in Buffalo and 3 OT losses. This team is very close to being a great MAC team (if they can put some seperation between themselves and their opponents ), but I worry about losing Sherman next year.

I will have to see the guys actually being "up" for their NIT game, before I'll
believe it.
It just seems that it's such a huge letdown losing the MAC tournament, especially the way we lost it, that the NIT just doesn't mean that much to the team.
In the past, it just seemed like the guys really weren't into the NIT game, like in
'03 when the College of Charleston came in to the gym and beat us...with Antonio
Gates. I hope I'm wrong, but I'd be surprised if we did much of anything.

I don't know, this team has a toughness about it that can be credited for most of the wins they got this season. This season wasn't like the 07-08 seasons where every 2 or 3 games we destroyed a MAC opponent or two. There was a lot more earning the wins this year.
To be playing this far into March is a privilege that I can't imagine any of the players or coaches were expecting to earn at the beginning of this season. I think they will step up for at least a first-round win.
I would love to see this team play CSU again. I would really love it in the MACC, no matter how unlikely that could be. I'm not sure how they decide who gets the home game.

On the other hand, last year they showed a lot of "heart" in beating Tulsa in the NIT. So, who knows?
last night was a double-whammy for the Henniger clan, as younger brother Josh and his #1 seeded and defending state champion Jackson Polar Bears lost the Canton District championship by 4 to a, as was Akron, #5 seeded GlenOak. Not a HUGE upset, by more surprising than was Kent State's loss.

The thing about Sherman is his knees. Couldn't hold up playing three games in three nights. They won't get better, so losing him won't hurt quite as bad as it would if he were healthy.

Not likely, dannyb73, but I wonder if Kent State still had the guy in the blue, comic book "Flash" outfit? And why was it blue, and not gold, when it is the"Goldn Flashes"?

They love that 'freakin Roo. Unfortunately for them, they don't realize the rest of the country laughs at them.

Wondering what GFlash68 thought of the game?
Have you gotten over it yet? It took me 2 days.

Gotta admit, watching that thing stomp during free throws during the championship game made me laugh.
