Regardless of its truth, I despise these tactics when used by Michael Moore, by the young republicans, by the caller to the Wisconsin gov., or in this case of NPR.
Addressing the repercussions of what is revealed is one thing, but I do hold grudges against the folks that employ these tactics. The problem is that I'm sure they're willing to live with being called sleazeballs if they can slur someone else in the process.
