NTR - Say it Ain't So Fabulous One Stan Lane
From Comm Appeal:
SAMUEL P. TICER, 65, died Monday, March 7, 2011 after a short illness. He was married for 24 years to Anna Marie Lehr Ticer and was a Captain in USMC serving two tours in Vietnam. He was a professional wrestler for 13 years under the name of Stan Lane of the Best Tag Team ever to hit Memphis and Mid South Coliseum as the The Fabulous Ones with partner Steve Keirn. He went to Holy Names Grade School and graduated from Humes High School. Sam sat in Elvis' homeroom desk and he was an accomplished singer and songwriter. He loved Halloween as his favorite holiday and did several haunted houses for various charities. Sam was an accomplished special effects make-up artist and engineer. He loved his dogs Doc Holiday and Wyatt Earp and all his other critters. He was the kindest most loving, giving person always ready to help anyone in need and always tried to make you laugh and feel better. He was a big man with an even bigger heart. He is survived by two brothers, Al Ticer and Buddy Ticer; two sisters, Denise Courson and Carla Sue Marshall, and his mother, Catherine Siebert. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Family Funeral Care and Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Friday, March 11 at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Bartlett.

Doesn't match Wiki.
Wallace Stanfield "Stan" Lane (born August 5, 1953).......
He looked awfully young to do two tours in Viet Nam.

No I'm not sure, I did the same google checks. I would think whoever wrote the obituary would know though.

None of the statistics in the article match known information. Name, age, place of birth.
Interesting turn in career. He was trained by Flair who is often imitated by his fans by the use of the strut that Flair copied from Fargo. Then Lane's career highlight is a character allegedly created by Fargo to carry on the Fargo tradition and used the Fargo strut as a main gimmick.

But for some reason the name seems familiar.

There is no way he was that old.
FOund info saying the obit is bogus. Samuel Ticer may be dead but he was not Stan Lane.

I'm gonna say everything is right except his age. They say 65, but the Wiki says he was born in 1953, which means he could have done some time in Vietnam at around the age of 19 or 20 at the end of the war. So he would have been around 30 when the Fab Ones were at their peak in Memphis, so its probably about right. A bunch of the local wrestlers still came around my neighborhood cause their parents and friends still lived around us and they were all about that age in the early 80's.

Guy must have been a character who wanted his obit to pop out from the rest.

So you talked to Lawler and the family of the deceased is saying he was indeed Stan Lane. Who the 'effe knows what to believe? I certainly don't believe the above link that just refutes the obit.

Not Stan Lane. That is easy to figure out. The obit is a bit odd in other ways also. As I said it seems he told his wife he wanted an obit that was different.

RE: NTR - Say it Ain't So Fabulous One Stan Lane
Hello, I'm the real Stan Lane. Came across this website among many others I've dealt with today regarding my "supposed" death. The funeral home, Memphis newspaper, and several media outlets have been contacted regarding this issue. I would like to thank ByrdDogx for posting a recent picture of me on this site. My wife and I are going to open up our Facebook page tonight for 1 week for anyone who would like to see current and past personal and wrestling pics. After this, account will be locked. This will prove who the real Stan Lane is. Go to facebook.com and Search .... stanandmaria lane....... Give us a little time to unlock our account. I challenge dannyb73 who claims to be a friend of the deceased to post some pictures (old and current) of Samuel. My agent talked to his wife today and she claims to have some, so LETS SEE THEM.......Thank you, and to all my fans, I'm still here and hope to be for a long time, God willing.......... Stan Lane AKA "Sweet" Stan

I remember going to watch Stan Lane at the Mid-South Coliseum on Monday nights and at WMC-TV Channel 5 on Saturday mornings.
