FGCU and Kennesaw State join Stetson in looking for new men's basketball coaches. Thought Ingle would get another year, but the academic concerns are what reportedly did him in.

Recently dismissed Bradley head coach Jim Les has to be thought of as a major contender for FGCU, Ken Kavanaugh was his AD there and now in Fort Myers.

Talk about throwing a guy under the bus. The wording in KSU's release practically douses Ingle in gasoline and flicks a match at him.

The only person talking about FGCU's coaching search down here is Dave Moulton. He seems to think it will be Steve Merfeld, who also has connections with Kavanaugh.

another Valley guy. Made a big winner out of Hampton with a memorable NCAA upset about 10 years ago. At least I think that was him.

Yeah, that's Merfeld...he's an assistant at Creighton right now.

I'd honestly rather have a first time coach, someone that's looking for a resume builder. Yeah it won't be a permanent thing, but we can't all find a Rick Byrd. If nothing else, a good young recruiter that hangs around a couple years and makes us not seem like a doormat would be my goal.

Just to throw fuel to the fire, looks like Casey Alexander of Belmont has been contacted by a few teams, but he's not naming who...

I'd love Casey Alexander to be running our show next season.

I would hate to see it, just because he is really good. I really wouldn't like to see him recruiting local Middle TN talent for another school. Casey played at Belmont when I was in school, and he was a kid who you always knew would be a coach. He was just a tremendous PG who helped run some of the best NAIA teams of that era. Casey will make a great coach for someone. Frankly I was hoping he would go be an assistant at a major conference program, and then come home to Belmont as HC later. I have often wondered if the coach in waiting tag might not be a bad move with him. Whoever gets Casey is getting a top notch coach.

I have to wonder if Bobby Kennan at UNF is being looked at for any of the A-Sun open HC positions. He has been at JU (under Durham), Campbell and now UNF.

Appears to be a solid recruiter and certainly knows the league.
