Did WMU have access to BSU's video feeds?
Yes, they did, but chose not to use them for some strange reason.
Ok, let me introduce a few facts to you...
The WMU officials requested, from the BSSN, the "camera 1" feed with clocks inserted in the lower right corner. Since this is NOT standard operating procedure when broadcasting an NCAA game, we questioned whether this is what they really wanted. WMU officials again said that is what they wanted.
The NCAA standard for a broadcast game is to give the officials a direct feed to the replays in the truck. Instead, WMU took the cam 1/clocks feed and recorded it at the officials' table, and replayed THAT angle ONLY. They were NOT shown the replays from the truck, because the WMU officials intentionally prevented it.
A league official was at the game, and requested to see the footage.
So 2 things here: The refs were totally incompetent, and the LEAGUE wanted to see the footage. The announcers' call is a moot point (after all, it's the BALL STATE Sports Network, not the Western Michigan Sports Network!).
If anything, WMU fans should be upset at the WMU officials. Because of them, Whitfield is suspended for the CMU game. Had they (and the refs) done their jobs correctly, he would have been ejected, and that would have been the end of it.
Sorry to burst your bubble with these facts, but this has gotten ridiculous.
