UMass to the MAC in football
With UMass joining the MAC in 2012 or 2013, it looks like they will be put in the East. Talk is BGSU will be bumped to the West.

Any thoughts/opinions about that?

RE: UMass to the MAC in football
That would make sense with the Toledo-BGSU rivalry. I think that would jump start both programs a bit. 7 teams in each division with 6 division games and 2 cross overs in football. In basketball a 19 games schedule would work with each division alternating each year with the extra home game. That way the playing field would be equal within the division.

basketball first round
14 vs 7
13 vs 8
12 vs 9
11 vs 10
second round would have
10/11 vs 3
9/12 vs 4
8/13 vs 5
7/14 vs 6

quarters would be
3/11/10 vs 6/7/14
4/9/12 vs 5/8/13

semis would have
2 vs 3/11/10/6/7/14
1 vs 4/9/12/5/8/13

This gives the regular season division winner a triple bye into the semis. This makes the regular season far more important.
