OMFG, what is wrong with college basketball!!
When will the Mizzou coach concede this game? They always do this in college bball. I've never seen a sport where the last minute can last longer. Mizzou called a timeout down 10 with 8.6 seconds left. That was maddening

The excuse is that they are practicing for the situation where they are 1 down with 8.6 seconds left and I suppose there is a certain logic to that. But you're right. Why can't they just accept their medicine and go home.

Sometimes, if the winning team unnecessarily throws down a dunk or hits a three at the end, the coach of the losing team will call a timeout as a sort of punishment to the other team and fans, and to tell his players to remember the moment and get payback later.
