While the natural reaction is to get defensive and bash the Salukis, stop and break down the individual comments --- then think about which ones you agree with and which ones you disagree with. Hate to say it but some of the critique is accurate and the bottom line is they're looking at us as a cautionary tale to what could happen to them.

Well, clearly our program sucks. I can't agree about our arena being horrendous or cheap. The Convo isn't the problem.

Yeah I was about to say it's not like SIU's basketball program is good right now either.

Meh, I disagree on the Convo, it's a perfectly acceptable and decent venue for our level of college athetlics. Is the location the best? No, but so be it.

As far as where the program is....certainly can't argue there.

I agree with them on the Cheer squad. Not good. Silverettes (sp?) are a totally different ballgame. They are hot.

Our cheerleaders are not fat. They are muscular and well-balanced. While the Silverettes are cute, thin, and have tight posteriors, they could not do what the cheerleaders do.

SIU's conference record is 5-11, NIU's 3-9. Both bad not much of a difference. Illinois collegiate basketball has been a collective

Not just this year but over the last 5 years. Considering the level of talent the HS & JC programs graduate, it shouldn't be that hard to assemble at least a winning program in this state.

I have nothing against SIU .. I actually cheer for them.

We are mentioned alot on their fan board...even before Kill took the job here. There are always plenty of potshots by the same posters.

Has anyone noticed SIU ads on the Score. They take a slight jab at us in their ads . The Money line is "Southern Illinois, a step ahead of the pack". Cleaver.
