This is new...

The one new charge revealed in the notice of allegations was that Pearl and associate head coach Tony Jones were cited for a secondary violation of "bumping" 2012 recruit Jordan Adams (Lawrenceville, Ga.), on Sept. 14, 2010, during Adams' junior year when the two visited Adams at Oak Hill Academy. According to the report, Pearl and Jones had a two-to-three-minute conversation with Adams prior to the start of basketball practice. The violation with Adams came shortly after Pearl and Tennessee held a news conference announcing the self-imposed penalties. Pearl was allowed to go on the road for two-plus weeks before he was shut down for a year on Sept. 24.

Basically, he cheated after the teary presser where he admitted cheating just four days earlier.

...new, and pertinent. Good catch. Crocodile tears from Volunteerism are beyond hypocritical irony. I'm not saying I hope UTK gets a death sentence, but at least pays a Pearl of great price.

So Pastner is headed to UT? 05-stirthepot

We wouldn't have him.

I agree...he doesn't fit the profile for your coach

Sweats profusely....nope
Body-paints himself and makes a fool out of himself....nope
cheats on his wife then gets divorced.....nope
lies to the NCAA....nope

wins his conference... nope
beats any top 25 ranked team... nope
beats any top 25 RPI team... nope
beats any top 25 Pomeroy team... nope
heck, beats any top 50 Pomeroy team... no--- oh wait he beat Gonzaga. He's 1-7.
wins at 180 RPI UMass with a first round NBA pick on his team... nope
wins at +200 RPI SMU with a first round NBA pick on his team... nope
heck, ever wins at SMU... nope
appears to have control of his team... nope

reduces Memphis fans to bragging about "big" wins over UAB and Southern Miss... yep

I think its likely that UT will be looking for a new coach soon and Josh Pastner may be a good coach one day, but right now Tiger fans don't have to worry about losing their coach to a BCS school, unless he wants to go be an assistant/recruiter somewhere. He doesn't have the resume.

BCS = FB, not hoops03-cloud9

The feeling is probably mutual - Pastner & UT.

I do not see many Memphis fans bragging about the team right now. We are smarter BB fans than in Hickdom.

Not only did he cheat, but he clearly violated the off-campus recruiting ban that Hamilton imposed from 9/4/2010 until 9/23/2011. If that's not reason enough to fire him, I don't know what is. If Hamilton keeps him, he's a ******* *****.

This was actually during the two weeks BEFORE the ban that shamelessly allowed him to take care of recruiting.

He could go out, but he "bumped" a kid he shouldn't have.

Not according to Mike Hamilton, who, at the press conference, said, "[C]oach Pearl will not be allowed to engage in off-campus recruiting activities from Sept. 4, 2010, to Sept. 23, 2011."

That's funny, because Keith has been ONE HUNDRED PERCENT DEAD ON with everything he's told me.

Keith knows Bruce personally. I doubt any of y'all do.

BTW, Keith still has the texts from Pearl where Brucie was mad that Memphis wouldn't call him about the job. He was more than willing to leave UT for Memphis. WE wouldn't call HIM! 03-lmfao

Everybody knows the REAL UT is West of the Miss River.....I fact the REAL UT is probably the most powerful school in all of college....not saying that's a good thing but it's certainly the truth.

I seem to recall Keith saying that he liked Pearl and the utk staff.

Look I thought both Hamilton and Pearl should have been fired over this. I'm not saying Easterwood does not have connections...heck he's the AAU coach from Memphis. I'm 10 rows behind the UT bench last night guess who was on the row directly behind the UT bench? Pearls good buddy and the new Gov Bill Haslam. I'm starting to think Pearl is not going anywhere...The Keith Easterwoods of the world do not know what is going to happen.

So the Governor is going to save Pearl? You seriously believe the NCAA will care who Pearl give free tickets to?

Say what you want about his personal life and ethics but Pearl can flat out coach a basketball team. To call that time out and pull off what they did after the Vandy 11 pt. run to open the 2nd half was awesome.

Just curious but what is Pearl's record vs. Memphis while at UT?

Dana O'Neil on ESPN did a search of the last 2 years and found 20 cases in which a coach or athletics department staff member was charged with unethical conduct. The same charge Pearl is facing. In 19 of those 20 cases the people involved received at least a two-year show-cause penalty. Kind of interesting. Link below if anyone cares.

The Haslams are the only reason Hamilton and Pearl are still there, but they have no control over the NCAA infractions committee.

After reading the NCAA notice of allegations and the way they cited each assistant coach's violations individually, I think they are setting UT up for a huge whooping.
