85 scholarships
Does anyone know where we can find out who are the players that have our scholarships? Other schools that I follow, usually on Rivals, periodically list by position and year of eligiblility where all the 85 scholarships are allocated. Thanks for your help

Go to redandblackattack.com and on the lefthand side look for "Football Eligibility Tracker". It reflects the 2010 team but you can subtract last year's seniors and add this year's recruits and come pretty close.

True. However, why not have dept provide avid fans with an updated and official list including schollies awarded to walk ons... and avoid the hassle for each fan to formulate a self manufactured list & one likely to be inaccurate. Players on scholarships may have left school or the program the past few months with the changing of the guard especially following the individual player-coach interviews.

RE: 85 scholarships
Per the R&BA list Casey Weston is still on the team. I thought I read that he transferred out? Also it doesn't say that he sat a year via-red shirt.

If he is still with the team what do you guys think of having him red shirt this year so we have one more QB for 2012? We already have 3 for 2011 so why not keep him for another year.

I think last year would have been a redshirt year, if he didn't play. He still has two years left, if he's still with us.

That's how I thought it worked but don't know.

That would be nice not to put all our 2012 hopes in 2 young guys. His CC stats are nice.

Correct. I also heard that he had left NIU but he is still listed in the directory so I guess that means he is still enrolled.

Ya me too. I just think it would be silly for him to leave if he would only have 1 year left to play for someone else. Why not compete to start in 2012 and if they do move DMG to WR or something then he has a better chance to get in QB this year too.

That is very good news for 2012 and if he is needed this year!

It's better than not having him on the team.
Don't underestimate how a great practice squad player can help a team.

Yep. Can never have enough able body QBs on your roster.

Ask the Bears.

Not sure that Weston has a year left, He spent -3- three year to get his 2 prior to NIU. He went to a -4- year school before JC. IMO, he was a 2 for 2 guy.

What do you mean? I'm with you on the eligibility, but last year was his first year at NIU, giving him last year (2010) as well as this year (2011).

The fact that Kill went out and got Weston when he found out about Chandler's injury is a scary though. Imagine where we might be right now if Chandler didn't have balls the size of Texas.

What about just sending an email to NIU athletics and asking for the list? Does anybody know - Is there any reason they would not supply the information?

Sure it does not make the HUSKIES a better team. Its just answers a fan or potential recruits question. Why should they disclose that competitive information? Why disclose the numbers available to current squad members, it could lead to bickering about not getting the money. Teams announce signings in the spring and NEVER disclose specific numbers.
