Green Gang: Golf Back Into The Top-25

Courtesy: University of North Texas
Release: 02/21/2011
By Steven Bartolotta, February 21, 2011, 9:37 a.m.

After the first tournament of the spring, the North Texas men's golf team is back into the Top-25 rankings. The Mean Green checks in at No. 25 in the Golfweek.com rankings and climbed a spot in the Golfstat.com rankings to No. 28.

In their first tourney of the season North Texas finished in third at the Oak Hills Invitational, trailing only No. 16 Texas Tech and No. 36 Oklahoma. Texas Tech had a head start on the Mean Green though playing in Hawaii (I should have been a golfer) the week before so they were able to knock the fall rust off earlier than North Texas.

North Texas has a three-week stretch coming up in March that will be very interesting. They will play at the USF Invite then the Seminole Intercollegiate before heading out the Arizona. All three fields are loaded with top-25 teams.

During the period in Florida the guys will also get a treat. They will be playing a round of golf between tournaments at the famed TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
