After scoring at least 20 points in back-to-back games, the Cajuns' J.J. Thomas was named the Sun Belt Conference's Player of the Week as announced by the league on Monday.
It is the first weekly award from the league for the Cajuns and Thomas this season. Earlier this season, Thomas was tabbed the Louisiana Sports Writers Association's Player of the Week (1/24/11).
For the week, Thomas shot 17-of-34 from floor (50.0 percent) and averaged 22.5 ppg.

Against the Red Wolves on Thursday, the true freshman tallied 20 points, including a 4-for-4 effort from the free throw line in the second half. With :06 left on the clock, he knocked down a pair of free throws to seal the 64-61 win.
In Saturday's thriller against WKU, Thomas scored 13 of the Cajuns' first 19 points, finishing the night with a game-high 25 points in 39 minutes of play.
