But you know 90% of the time, the home team gets more calls go their way, especially in the SBC. It might be part of McDonald's strategy to drive to the basket, but the Cajuns had a number of guys hammered, including Thomas going to the basket, no calls were made in the second half. This is why Marlin lost it, even in front of his own bench he wasn't getting any calls. This is why I call BS on you guys crying about the time keeper, when all WKU had to do is simply hit their free throws down the stretch, we wouldn't be having this converstation.
I'll tell you, during the Horn years I used to get so mad because we often got more fouls called on us than the other team. Then one day I realized that gambling, grabby defense was just part of Horn's game.
The time keeper did not cost us the game. That I agree with. The one inbound play was a blatant error on the time keeper's part though.
Personally I prefer referees that "let them play". Watch the Big East, SEC, Big Ten, etc., those refs LET THEM PLAY. It is brutal in there. I think it is a disservice to the Sunbelt that we too often get referees that call way too many fouls.
When you get to the NCAAs the games are physical and the fouls are not called like they usually are in Lafayette or Bowling Green on a Saturday night.
The real crime is switching back and forth between tightly called and loosely called within the same game or even the same half, which I think very much happened last night. The first half was tightly called with several players picking up two early fouls. Then in the second half, when WKU made the run, there were a lot of no calls that could have been called. Again, I don't personallly have a problem with that. But then the refs switch back again, calling the game tight at the end (and in my opinion flat out blowing some calls).
And again, I don't think that the referees cost us the game. That's not what I am saying at all.
