Everhart up for Middletown hs job
http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20110...RONTPAGE|s

Troy Everhart was football coach at Winton Woods for 11 seasons before leaving for an assistant coaching position at UC. Now he's rumored to be one of the final candidates for the Middletown job.

According to the Middletown Journal, University of Cincinnati assistant coach Troy Everhart was interviewed Monday night for the head football coaching position for Middletown.

Everhart, 41, walked away from the head football coaching position at Winton Woods last summer to become coordinator of recruiting services and a recruiting assistant at the University of Cincinnati, where he had worked as a graduate assistant under Rick Minter in 1996.

In 11 years at Winton Woods, Everhart established himself as one of the top high school football coaches in the area. His teams posted an 80-41 record and last year the Warriors won the Division II state championship.

"Personally I had accomplished everything I had set out to do at Winton Woods," Everhart said last October. "We won a state title and we accomplished quite a few things, especially considering some of the limitations we had in the district. Our levy situation made me realize that it would be really hard to find a job elsewhere. I could be stuck teaching but not coaching. That's kind of a sign."

According to the report, another candidate for the Middletown job is Youngstown Ursuline head football coach Dan Reardon.

“They are the two best that have applied,” Middletown Athletic Director Gary Lebo told the Journal. “It is fair to say they are the frontrunners. We’re very happy and fortunate to have coaches of that caliber that have applied.”

Lebo said there are more than 50 candidates who've applied.

One would think that a BCS asst job would be better than a HS job. Maybe he's not happy working for Butch. At any rate, Midd. HS is a very solid program, and would be a definite step up in the pecking order from his last HS job.

Not a bad job to get, but I'd think BJ would be pissed losing an asst so fast.

Maybe he wants to coach again, instead of trying to suck up to 18 year olds all day.

That isn't really his job. His job is more coordinating recruiting, not actually recruiting himself. It is pretty much a desk job, keeping track of who we are recruiting, which coaches are recruiting which kids, etc.

Sounds like the uc job was more of a transition job.....until something else opened up. I'm thinking if he gets the middies job he will be a good ally to have at a school that produces good talent and has current uc targets.

Ah, yeah, I know that. Butch explained that a few weeks ago during signing events. Just trying for a little levity.

RE: Everhart up for Middletown hs job
I doubt very much that Everhart would take the recruiting services coordinator job with the intention of staying in that position for more than a year. He would either move up to be an on field coach or leave the program to be a head coach in high school or a position coach at another school. I guarantee that he made more money in his final year at Winton Woods than he did in his position at UC.

I wish Everhart the best. It could pay serious dividends for our recruiting that school. Middletown's program always has high potential.

Exactly. I hope he lands the gig. If not him, the other guy inthe running is current UC signee and reigning Mr. Ohio's coach at Youngstown Ursaline.
