AHSAA Super 6
I know it's early, but do you guys think UAB will put in a bid to host the Alabama Football State Championships? I believe the championships need to be in Birmingham due to it's relative central location. A lot more central to all schools than Auburn or Tuscaloosa. 30,000 seats will be plenty for HS games and it will be new and state of the art.

RE: AHSAA Super 6
Lots of potential uses for this facility besides just UAB football... outdoor concerts, soccer matches, etc. Even the BBVA Compass Bowl wouldn't be out of consideration, especially if BBVA is the corporate sponsor of our stadium. And that will help us pay for it. Plus, the same recruiting advantage that UAT and AU folks have sought with the Super 6 could become ours. Top Alabama high school athletes would see and experience our facilities and they would get at least a glimpse of the campus. There really is a lot of misinformation out there about UAB. Just getting people on campus I think could make a significant difference in recruiting.

What may happen is an expansion of the rotation to include UAB, Troy and USA if they can accomodate the crowds actually showing up for the games. My expectation is that the moving of the Super 6 to be alternately at AU and UA was for recruiting purposes so the "money bags" the two BCS schools command may keep the games away from the "peasant" schools.

Birmingham has an advantage no other city in the state has. It's centrally located, and as said before, all roads lead here. Add a shiny new venue, and we make a compelling argument.

There is only one argument the AHSAA understands and that's money. They proved that whent they took it away from Birmingham and the people who gave them the idea.

If UAB tries to bid for the Super 6, at a minimum Troy and USA/Mobile will try to bid. Central location aside. To be honest I don't see any changes to the Auburn/Tuscaloosa arrangement.

It might be a tough hill to climb but we sure as heck should try to get the games at our stadium. We would need to try and get several non-uab events at the stadium. Not to mention that having the state finals at our stadium would be a recruiting tool for us
