RE: Texas Network a blow to whatever Big 12 stability has left
Frank the other obstacle might be the non-championship BCS bowls. In a lot of ways they could suffer in the same way the CCG sometimes do. If you are a fan of the #1, #2, or probably even #3 team and you are playing in a BCS bowl, you probably aren't going to be going to both the first BCS game and the national championship. People might not travel to the first BCS game in as big of numbers because a) if there teams wins, they'd rather go to the national championship and b) if there team loses, they don't want to spend the money. In other words, no matter the outcome, for a lot of fans, it might be better just to wait.

RE: Texas Network a blow to whatever Big 12 stability has left
Ok if a 5th BCS bowl comes about it would be the Cotton, and I think all of us agree on that, but the plus one play in game is a totally different game correct??? You have the BCS bowls of ( in NO particular order ) Fiesta, Orange, Rose, Sugar, as well as the so-called National Championship Game. So you add the Cotton Bowl as the 5th BCS game does the plus one play in game become the National Championship Game or is it just a needed game to determine such a mess like this past season with TCU and Auburn going undefeated, and say if TCU would have lose that game then there would have been no need for a play in game correct??? Some what confused here, but if a play in game came about and I think we will all agree here that money for that game should be shared amongst all the BCS conference teams for those two teams have already collected a paycheck from their original BCS game to start with.

UTEP:
I enjoyed my time in El Paso. The people were great.
I had a great time at the Sun Bowl last month.

The Sun Bowl is a great bowl, Terry. I went back in 1987, when Major Harris led WVU against the Thurman Thomas led Oklahoma State Cowboys. Thomas' backup in that game was Barry Sanders. It was a great game. But unfortunately for the Mountaineers, they lost a close game on a snowy field...
I loved the Tex-Mex flavor of the area, and the people were great. IMO it's one of the best bowl venues out there. I still have a few souveniers from that game floating around here somewhere...

RE: Texas Network a blow to whatever Big 12 stability has left
I think the two ways to do a plus one would be option 1, to seed two rotated "bcs" bowls, 1-4, 2-3, than have the winners play in the plus one. Or option 2 would be have the "bcs bowls" revert back to their original tie ins and play around jan 1, rose- pac 10/big 10, sugar- sec, orange-acc, fiesta- big 12 (there could be some shifts in those tie ins + cotton/jerry jones might try to get into play)...than after the bowl games, pick the top 2 teams and have a plus 1. Under option 2, you could run into a few problems with who should be in that plus one though + its almost impossible to have the back to back bowl experience, ie ohio state fans aren't going to the rose bowl in mass, than the next week travel to destination x for a plus one bowl.
