Basketball coaches on the hot seat
Are there any MAC basketball coaches on the hot seat yet? I have to imagine there are a few out there. Some for a lack of performance, and others for a lack of character. I've heard some unfavorable rumors about a certain head coach in the MAC and I wonder how long his school will keep him since they have fired coaches in the past for less. I won't say more than that until things boil over to the surface.

So, who's out after the season?

Maybe Ernie Ziegler? Rumors are flying about his treatment of a player after the EMU debacle. The player has left the team and the rumors are circulating on the CMU message boards. Stay tuned.

Some for lack of performance...some for lack of character. Some, like a certain guy in Mt. Pleasant, could be out for both.

WMU coach Steve Hawkins tends to do just good enough to avoid 'hot seat' discussion, but I'm starting to doubt if he's got it in him to get to a MAC final again.

Already I can think of Patton at NIU, Ramsey at EMU and from the sounds of it Zigler at CMU.

Outside of Toledo and Ball St., why wouldn't all the other West coaches be on the hot seat? Those programs are all in bad shape under coaches who have been there long enough to not only maybe show some success, but to at least even be mediocre. They are awful.

Axe, you just don't understand our "culture of mediocrity" at WMU. It's been the subject of a long running series of threads on our board.

It's also maddening. 03-hissyfit

There are not enough programs in the MAC where the administration or alumni base really cares enough. This is a great place for basketball coaches to retire to.
