Sorry Rucker mom we both saw the same play. let me know the link to the video just in case I missed something. They took our inside threat out of the game.

It looked like he just lost it going up the first time. I still want to know how it was a foul on him though.

I love how NIU is almost winning these road games which in the MAC is very tough to do. I really believe NIU will be one tough out in the tourney and will have as good as chance as any another team to win the thing.

Agreed. No top MAC team wants to face Xavier Silas with their season on the line.

Yes those half-empty gymnasiums are real intimidating arenas to play in no doubt.

I feel terrible for Silas. Dude burries a 35 footer and his team couldn't get a stop.

Would have helped if he didn't turn the ball over a possession or two earlier.

I feel terrible for myself having watched the end of the western michigan game. Two straight buzzer beater losses on the road....ugh...kicks in the gut.

Huskies play hard but come up short in the end...where have I heard that story before?
They actually didn't play terribly against WMU considering it was their second away game in less than 48 hours.
Still, NIU played poorly on defense, especially in the closing minutes, giving up 82 points to a team that came in averaging under 70 ppg for the season...
The MAC is up for grabs this season, and these were two winnable away games against two squads that are in a rebuilding year. NIU should have won both games.
NIU might be a tough out in the tournament and Ohio proved last year that anything can happen. However, the level of basketball being played in the East is far superior than the West, and other than Ball State, no team in the West has a good chance to win the tourney.

I disagree, noone in the East is head and shoulders above. Its anyone's tourney and I think NIU is in good shape to win the thing. They are improving at a faster rate than any team in the MAC right now.

I think 2 factors can explain it: 1) more tedious and taxing travel due to smaller travel budgets 2) smaller more intimate arenas where homecourt can mean more

Unless he runs the table or gets to 20 wins, it's way past time to hear the words "he gone!"

The East is up for grabs and even though there is no clear cut team, they are still better than the West...the West is woeful this year with all the Michigan's schools having down year.
I would like to know what your definition of "improvement" is. We just went 0-2 against two extremely beatable teams. CMU is pretty awful this year and WMU just came off a 12 point loss against Toledo.
There is individual improvement such as Toler. He has been shooting the ball extremely well as of late and has given us a great 2nd scoring option.
But as a team, the Huskies continue to play poor defense and commit way too many turnovers on the offensive end, especially at crunch time. Not exactly what I would call improvement.
Oh, and there is the fact that we are 2-3 in the West. East is a much better division than the West right now.

When you are consistentely competitive on the road, thats a great sign when it comes to tournament play. I think NIU will be an excellent shape come March for a great shot at winning it in Cleveland.
