I do agree, NIU does need to replace the head, or lead an initiative to have artist create different heads (if they can put huskies all over Dekalb, they can get a head on a gargoyle).

(btw, I like pigdog, its a good representation of our current logo.)

Sorry - I have to disagree here. PigDog looks NOTHING like the current logo. That hideous thing looks exactly like a pig. That is flicking off everybody with its tail. Look closely at the tail and you'll see what I mean. It just screams F*** Y**. If you like the pig dog you are the only person I have ever heard say that.

Somebody needs to break into Huskie Stadium under cover of darkness, throw a chain around that thing, then drag it to it's death behind a pickup truck.

OK - now I'm scared. I actually AGREE with Whiskey on this one!
After it's destroyed by dragging behind a truck - toss the ugly thing into the lagoon or the Kish.

I would melt that sucker down, use the bronze to make realistic looking mini huskies, and give them as premiums to season ticket holders.

+1,000 Landscaping does wonders. Trees and new grass in a lot of places. Add some coats of paint to some of the more dilapidated structures and things would look a lot better.

A "donate a tree" campaign would resonate with a lot of alumni. I know it would with me. Or "donate a building sign" to rid the campus of those sh*t brown signs that have been around for 30 years and looked awful from day one.

The Pigdog is an abomination. And a source of embarassment. Seriously, NIU could have commissioned Ray Charles to construct a Huskie monument out of pile of rotting manure and come out with a better end product than the Pigdog. 03-banghead

It blows my mind that they still put up those signs.

Was the intent of the MLK Commons statue of Two Disposable Water Cooler Paper Cups Touching to have water coming down the edges? Or is that another whopper served to me?

I think it's supposed to represent balance and harmony or something.

I always thought it looked decent when the lower half had plants in bloom. Otherwise, it's a little too much bare concrete.

Got to admit, after looking through those shots, I really miss the place. NIU will always have a special place in my heart, and pictures like that will always remind me that I picked a great place to start my career. Hope I make it back someday to check in and see how things have changed.

Surprising how just seeing pictures of campus brings you back so quickly, after looking through those, I feel like I should be on my way home from class, getting ready to get my weekend started for the first football game of the year, not sitting in my work office in the middle of winter.

Thanks for sharing.

RE: NIU Campus
Not only plant more trees/shrubs, but care for the ones in place, trim and remove overgrown ones in poor locations & proximity to Lincoln/Douglas dorm exterior walls, North Neptune, along portions of Stadium Dr. etc.... do something to west lagoon with trails, trees along shoreline, benches, an aerator fountain, sign/marker identifying who was Anthony Lorusso like ones found along IL Prairie Path in w burbs... etc

Since Castle Drive entry is no longer primary point of entry, install a decorative metal "Welcome to NIU" archway over Glidden near Mason Properties/ Old School House/Barsema A&V Center/Graham Hall ....make these projects part of senior class gifts to NIU....
