Would guys like Larry Brown or Floyd work?
Purely a hypothetical and non serious question for a quick fix for NIU hoops.

Would a huge name in hoops like Brown, Floyd, lavin or other underemployed retreads ever consider the challenge short term 2 yrs of turning around the NIU bball program?

Forget whether or not we could afford them or whether or not they would accept an offer.

If Compers would you entertain/consider such a strategy?

Wonder if DePaul had considered such an option? I think they DID find eventually the right guy to turn the corner for Demons.

Is there no quick fix to reach above .500 in two seasons?

Must we pay our dues and continue bleeding before some respect is restored to the program?

I always believed bball is a much quicker fix for a struggling program than are many other college sports....

Just my opinion: I don't think you can turn this around in 2 years unless you do it the Marshall way. I don't think any of us want the NCAA coming down hard on us.

Isn't that what Ricardo Patton was? Getting a big-school reject could work, but I think the best avenue to take is getting a young, up-and-coming assistant coach from a big school. If I'm Compher, I have Jerrance Howard (Illinois assistant coach) on speed dial.

I believe had Kowal stayed it would be turned around right now! I believe we would have 3-4 more wins and would be one of if not the best team in the Mac!

I was just tossing commonly known retreads out to open broader dialogoue but there must be many lower profile but proven retreads at hand.

In this case it is probably true! And it isn't that complicated to see how. Look at how many close games we've lost and how the opposing teams have had success in the low post offensively. Having Kowal there for at least 20 minutes takes some of their points away and adds a few points on lost possessions for us. That alone would get us at least that many more wins already this season.

yep, I agree.

Whether or not his presence wooda taken the team over the .500 hump is open to speculation.

Huskies also now seem to be taking better care of the bball than in so many games last season.
