A home game against TCU would be very competitive since I believe they lost a lot. They won't be the same team in 2011.

We played TCU fairly recently and we got stomped. They were good then, but are on a whole different level now.

While i love NIU just like everyone else on here, TCU is an elite program now. They can compete with the top 5-10 programs.

They aren't looking for a non-BCS team to fill Tech's spot. They want another BCS team.

I would like to see us play Tennessee Tech. I miss them guys (and their hot cheerleaders).

TCU would most likely kill us.

I don't think they lost as many players as you think. They lose QB Andy Dalton, but they have some highly regarded QB's waiting to take over for him. They just took a recruit the other night who has been committed to Oklahoma for a while. The kids they are bringing in the last few years have many BCS offers. We can't even beat Villanova and Tulane for recruits.

I like the idea of dialing back after 3 games of increasing difficulty to start the year off. I'd prefer a team in-region that runs a standard offense.

Seems like the problem with scheduling nAQs is we're all looking for the same thing that time of year. Money games and winnable home games. If NIU wants to flog someone from California, I'd prefer San Jose State, but Cal Poly is what we can afford. I'd like to play Troy on a regular basis, but it doesn't work on the money side.

The service academies have a different approach, but their funding situation is a little different to put it mildly.

You are against playing TCU so what about Airforce?

We have 1 money game next year and its not even a great one.

Whats worse losing to Cal Poly or TCU/Airforce?
Whats better defeating Cal Poly or TCU/Airforce?
What opponent would make NIU more money?
What opponent would give NIU the most recruiting exposure?
What opponent would give NIU an increased chance to make that game on TV?

If NIU wend 13-1 and their only loss was to Airforce or TCU then you can say I told you so. Until then I still say not to schedule any FCS teams, outside of Illinois, and schedule a series with a non-AQ FBS team instead.

YES to Air Force at home but two service academies in same season weeks apart an unlikely scenario.

NO to TCU home or away. While not the frogteam of 2010 next yr, they stomped the livin snot outta Huskies in bowl game and would likely do so again in 2011. Not a good way to start of the season then face Wisky.

NO to surrendering a home date in Sept.

Lets "clancel" Cal Poly and play a midwest team at Huskie Stadium, the Real Home of The Huskies. When Phillips was here he said the Northwestern game is one that should be played in DeKalb. Has Compher explored this possibility?

I think Phillips knows that NIU Football is good. Good enough to compete with and beat Northwestern every season. He and Northwestern don't want anything to do with us. I think they are content with playing really easy OOC schedules every season so they can pad their W column.

Phillips and Compher both know they have good teams. The problem is Compher's a lightweight that can't put a newsworthy deal together. Yes, he's got his own football coach now, but that could be it.

I wouldn't even mind a 2 for 1 here. NU is not that far for NIU fans to travel and Ryan Field is not a intimidating venue.

Huskie fans were out in force in Evanston last time we played there.

I was there in 05 for the beginning of my bachelor party. I still don't know why Wolfe didn't get the chance to run it in for the 2pt at the end.
