Anthony Hitchens
Watching BG Akron tonight and saw that he was no longer on the team, then I saw that he transfered to James Madison....but didnt have to sit out a year? I am confused?

He transferred because of his father's death. In cases like this, the NCAA usually grants an exception so that he can play immediately. We talked about this at great length in the Kent forum.

a former rocket's signee, aj davis, also transferred to james madison this yr. he was signed by joplin but bumped by cross and played a bit at wyoming w some success. jmu has a good program right now

I thought the official word was that he left Akron to be closer to his family after his father died but I'm still trying to figure out how Harrisonburg, VA is closer to Chillicothe, OH than Akron, OH is.

He left Akron because they wanted him to leave and his fathers death made the situation fluid for all parties.

I dont think its about distance i think theory is allows the student athlete the ability to use his eligibility sooner, graduate sooner so that he can help support his family who may be hurting financially due to said death.

Thats the theory i believe. NCAA can't discriminate and say yes in some and no to others.
