Glad to see Mike finally receive his due recognition. If Trojan were ever happy, it's going to be today with this announcement. He's lobbied for this ever since I've known him and glad his desire for Mike's inclusion into our Hall of Fame has finally been rewarded. Great day for Trojan tradition. Now all we have to do is get Curtis back on camera. Darn. It was bad enough I had to miss the ASU game. Now I'm missing a once in a lifetime Hall of Fame induction. You guys will have to cheer louder to make up for my absence. I enjoyed a lot of games when Mike was our coach. I wish him well. I think he still deserves another chance to coach D1 ball. He has probably matured a lot, and there's no doubt he can coach.

This is going to be one day that I would hate to miss. This is truly historical. Regardless of the past mistakes and politics, Mike Newell was the chief architect of the UALR basketball program and deserves credit. That building would likely never have been built if it were not for the winning "foundation" laid by Mike. This day ought to serve as a reminder of what it means to be a UALR fan.

[Here, let me turn the volume up on that one] As well as the power of the message board. Had we not been busting chops, I suspect this never would have occurred. Kudos to UALR, and to us.

For what ever the reason, this recognition is long over-due. Lots of us have felt this should have been done but no one has lobbied as loud and as hard as LRTrojan. I don't know what took place to make this happen but I have to believe LRTrojan's voice was definitely heard.

I don't believe our posting on this board had any effect directly on the Athletic Dept honoring Mike at this time. I do believe that it was caused by the "major financial" supporters (who may either read or post on this board) requesting this be done now. If that is correct, then "THANK YOU TO THEM" for finally getting this done.

I'm happy for Coach Newell. It's long overdue. Now all that's missing is to see the entire NCAA team that beat Notre Dame honored with a special night.

Newell is who got me excited about UALR and I'm still comming to games 25 years later! Congrats to Mike. I too think this board had something to do with it. There are alot of people that visit this board and never post, but they read what we are saying and we are a pretty good cross section of fans. If most of us think Mike should be in then most of the UALR fans around are thinking it too.

I would be surprised if any fans, outside of those who worked for the university during that time, who were around during the Newell years, wouldn't be excited about Mike making the Hall.

I never believed their was some big conspiracy to keep Mike out of the Hall of Fame. The reality is, that most years (Certainly the past 8 years while at UAM) he has been pretty busy during basketball season. This year he is no longer coaching and is free on a Saturday during basketball season. Pete Myers is also free (supposedly he moved into the Bulls front office after the coaching change after the end of last season). Wonder why he wasn't invited?

Cause nobody has been busting chops about Mr Myers.
