Yeah, but they perfected flying in NC.
It is windy as hell at Kill Devil Hills also.
Oh, not denying that. Been there and been blown around. Just tired of Ohio trying to steal the first flight from us.
Yes...Suck it Ohio!!
I spend a week on the Shackelford banks every fall with a bunch of guys surf fishing. I have a real love for everything OBX.

It stay pretty damn windy here in Hilton Head, SC.... but, the people here are so snooty you couldn't put anything near here. Hell, they put a dredger off the coast and people went batsh!t....
As for the Wright Brothers.... if memory serves, they only did one to two flights in NC, everything else was done in Ohio.... plus you know, first man on the moon, first American in space.... Awe, crap. Did I just admit I'm from Ohio....

I'm pretty sure they did the initial concepts and designs in OH, but pretty much everything from the initial gliders to a couple of advanced models were developed and built in NC. Ground was not suitable for development in OH compared to the sands of the Outer Banks, nor the winds. Plus building stuff in OH and shipping it to NC wasn't really feasible. If you ever can get to the Museum in Kill Devil Hills, its a pretty cool experience, and I've heard its gotten better since I visited way back in the early 2000s.
Plus we forgive you for being from OH. Just join the USMC and fly in space and all will be forgiven.

To get back to the topic, note the other thread about the solar panel maker moving to China.

This. "Ohio, Aviation's Birthplace" my ass.
Yeah, breaking wind is about right.
