BCS + ESPN = BS
Biggest game of the year, and the BCS can't get a field ready for the game. It looked like an ice skating event with players slipping and sliding all over.
And while this is going on, the shills working the game for ESPN don't even bother to comment on the obvious screw up. Both entities lose the very little credibility they had with me.

After how crappy both teams looked, TCU should be declared the national champions.

How is the field the BCS' fault?

The sites know which game they're hosting, and the date. This should be simple for them to deal with.

They resodded it after the Fiesta Bowl last week. After this and last year's effort in the Capital One Bowl after the Champs Sports Bowl and a few Florida high school games, resodding should probably not be at the top of any groundskeeper's list before a game.

Wouldn't that equal BC+2S+EPN?

It is the BCS Championship, therefore the entirety of responsibility lies with them. How they can allow a game of this magnitude to be played in less than ideal conditions just shows that it is all about the money, and nothing else. Like that is a surprise.

Whoever did the radio call on Serius commented repeatedly on the issue- a new field was laid down, per these guys, a few days before. They even were counting the number of slips that affected plays. It was brought up so often I was getting a little tired of hearing about it. I only watched a few minutes but I remember thinking the Oregon coach was nuts not trying a FG on fourth and 1 considering the apparent state of the field.

No. They don't hire the field crew. Blame the stadium staff.

Exactly. The stadium should feel ashamed if it was that bad. The NCAA and BCS have to work with whatever the stadium is like, its not like they can change venue at this point.

I don't get why they resod the WHOLE field for every Bc$ Championship game. It always looks perfect after the Bc$ game the week before. If they are worried about the endzones because they completely paint them, or even the midfield logo, why not just replace those 2 parts? It's completely idiodic to resod the whole field.

The NCAA and the BCS were both negligent. If you were putting on an event of this magnitude, wouldn't you want to be sure that the most important element was up to expectations? How can either the NCAA or BCS not take the blame for the miserable field conditions?
And FWIW, the NCAA likes to claim they are for the safety of the athletes, but they let a bowl game go ahead last year (Citrus Bowl) on a field that would have been better used for a tractor pull. The NCAA is a hypocritical organization to the nth degree.

Yeah, its almost as bad as the Miami-BG game at BG a few years ago-true, that one was more important because it involved MAC teams so you can understand them slacking a little for a mere BCS game but they could have learned a lesson from Big Bird's slip on HIS opportunity to win a huge game with a last second field goal.

The real shame is the BCS playing a bowl in a stadium named after the for profit sham that is UofP. Don't give that ripoff school any legitimacy by playing what's SUPPOSED to be the biggest game of college football there.
OK, I'll stop. But I'm glad I wasn't the only one that wasn't impressed last night with either teams offense.

That is what happens when you wait that long to play a championship game. They really need to play that game earlier.

I listened on the radio and they never STOPPED talking about the awful slippery field conditions.
Called it the worst they ever saw.
Tirico and Jon Gruden did the call.

The BC$ is BS even without ESPN. Sloburn vs. Whoregon? I'd rather watch North Alabama vs Western Oregon.
