Maybe Steve is figuring it out. Players and fans
enjoy a game like last night. Faster pace. It wasn't run and gun. We set up half court sets as usual, but we did some things I can't remember ever seeing, or hardly ever. On one play, Solo drove the lane, and then kicked the ball to the wing to Alex who hit a three. I've never see him give up the ball to the wing once he went to the basket. That's a plus.
That's what Bo McCaleb used to do which made him so effective.

I saw that similarity to Bo originally, but the difference was Solo didn't give up the ball. If he's willing to do that, it makes him even more dangerous and our team even more effective. So congrats to Solo. Keep up the good team play.

Chucky and D'Andre are coming along nicely. Two very quick young men. Chucky seemed to play more under control last night, and that's a big plus. He's learning what you can and can't do in D1 ball. I recall Steve telling us one time that some things that work in high school, don't work at this level. That's where experience comes in. Alex is our John Fowler. He goes hard 100% of the time and is a hard nosed player. I love Alex's game. He's the blue collar guy that will win games for you.

For the first time this year, I'm feeling better about the team. I see Steve giving them a little more freedom to play, and if he continues to do that, it will be a lot more fun to watch, and the results should be positive.04-cheers

For sure, I'm not trying to be a Michaels Pappy here but, I did notice the box score in the morning paper. Our inside guys, Jackson, Thornton, Bails, and Leeper, scored a total of 11 points. Guards, Williams, Garcia-Mendoza, Bozeman, Guy and Mouzy, scored a total of 65, about 85.5% of the total 76 points. I know scoring is not everything in a game, and this does not appear to be a good year for Troy. Still, Seems to me the only hope for this team is the guard oriented, faster pace kind of game.

I feel about the same Saturday Night as I did Saturday morning about the status of the team. If the trend you describe continues, then I might change my mind.

Steve can't control the way the games play out. The Refs and match-ups will dictate most of that.

I still feel the same way too. I want top 3 in the SBC and a trip to the SBC finals, while giving me hope for next year. Without we need to look at other options. I feel like Steve will be in the top 3 and that only leaves making a strong showing at Hot Springs. He is due for that and the guard play is improving to the point we should be able to do it.

If we win the next four games (ULM, ULL, FIU and FAU) I will become fairly optimistic about our program for the rest of the season. I can't say that by any stretch of imagination I would predict that happening, but by some wonderful miracle it does, then more power to the people.04-cheers

It just takes him longer than it does some on this board.
