Announced attendance for the GoDaddy.com Bowl though 30,000 probably attended just to see Danica Patrick! 03-wink

All kidding aside, that is a great attendance for a bowl game involving two non-AQ teams. It was the seventh highest attendance for a bowl game this year involving a non-AQ school behind the Rose, Liberty, Poinsettia, Hawaii, Las Vegas, and Independence Bowls.

Its attendance beat out the numbers recorded by the Military, Armed Forces, Humanitarian, Little Caesar's, New Orleans, Beef O' Brady's, and New Mexico Bowl!

The GoDaddy.com Bowl is always a success because the city of Mobile really supports this bowl. I remember when UT was in it there was a Mobile resident who was posting on the board talking about how the city puts on a show for it. I saw an article that said at their Mardi Gras parade this week there was an estimated 50,000 people at the parade! That is fantastic. I think they also take to team(s) around the town and shown them things like the Naval Harbor. That is what other bowls (ex- Little Caesars Bowl) need to do.

Highest attended GMAC/GoDaddy.com Bowl since 2007. Still pretty good.

Without a doubt, they are incredible hosts and have produced some really good crowds. I hope stAte has the opportunity to play there very soon.

The Troy crowd was much larger last year. They must have had a large amount of MU fans there as well.

Last year's attendance was 34,486. According to the figures, last year's attendance in the GMAC Bowl was not larger than the attendance in this year's GoDaddy.com Bowl. I understand that there's an issue with "paid attendance" and "butts in seats," but that is irrelevant to this topic. It's about selling the game, and the partners of the bowl game this year plus the schools involved did a heckuva' job!

I was there last night and Miami did travel well. I was really glad to see the big turn out on Miami's side as well as MTSU's side.

Again, tickets sold. It was well-marketed in a fine southern city.

Big difference in weather from last year as well. Last year was bitterly cold!

From some South Alabama season ticket holders who were there, they are saying it looked to be 30,000+ in stands with them emptying to almost 8,000 MTSU and Miami fans in the 4th quarter.

38,168 was tickets sold. Not a sell-out but pretty close.

TennesseeBoy, thanks for the kind words and support of this bowl!!

Being a southern boy now living in Colorado at the foot of the Rockies, I giggle at the "bitterly cold" comment. Last Friday, the high was 9 and the low was around -11 with around 7 inches of snow on the ground. It was starting to get a little chilly!! 03-lmfao

But I do miss all the fine Southern ladies!! 03-woohoo02-13-banana

Well it was the 4th quarter but even in Toledo on the news they noted it looked very empty. It looked like fans from the 30 yard line and in, and not even to the top. Maybe they shot it from the bad side, or a lot of people left because it did not look like a bowl game.

They were shooting from the west side (home) to the east side (visitors). The west stands were pretty much full. Locals tend to leave at halftime or after if the Jags aren't playing at Ladd.

They put Toledo on the visitors side so TV would think we filled it up. Maybe they should think about doing that.
