Glad the Buckeyes won last night.
Lurker-
I'm with you on this one. I'm a UC fan first, but i always root for OSU in every game they're not playing UC. Rip away on me if you must...I can take it!

I have a hard time stomaching that Tressel is a class act when OSU's the dirtiest football program in the country. Over 375 violations reported in 10 years and they have the largest compliance department in the country.

Not to defend Tressel here (although I actually think he is a pretty good guy as well), but with the overzealous fanbase for Ohio State it is very hard to keep everyone in line. You can't babysit these players 24/7, let alone the thousands of "boosters" involved with Ohio State. You can only educate and hope they follow through with their responsibilities. Obviously in the case of selling of these rings and such, they failed.
On a side note, I know a lot of OSU fans who were pissed that Pryor (and the other suspended players) played last night. They also think he committed the biggest "sin" against the university when he decided to sell the golden pants, an award given to players when they beat Michigan. Obviously he does not care about tradition, he only cares about making it to the NFL based on his actions.

If Pryor really cared about when he went to school, he wouldn't announced his college choice at "The University of Ohio State" when he had his commitment ceremony,
A seconds in

Agreed. He and every other coach can't babysit their players. He's got enough on his plate. It's up to the players to act responsibly, they know what's expected of them.
His "all about me" attitude and constant battles with Herbstreit annoy the masses. He talks and acts like he's the greatest thing to ever set foot on campus. Most OSU fans I know want him to declare for the NFL draft and get lost.

Or he just wanted some extra cash. I hate OSU but it's comical that these guys selling their rings and stuff is such a big deal, both as far as NCAA violations (guess they should have had their dads sell it for them. I also don't understand the rule. Apparently Pryor could get in trouble for selling his couch on craigslist if it sold for more than it was worth due to him being OSU's QB) but especially to the sanctimonious super-fans up in Columbus.
He sold the Golden Pants?!?!?! Are you serious?!?! Pryor has the experience of beating Michigan, he probably couldn't care less about some little key chain that some 50 year old thinks signifies it.
He only cares about making to the NFL? While I seriously doubt that - just because he doesn't care about the Eisenhower era paraphernalia he gets for beating Michigan doesn't mean he doesn't care about OSU - is that such a big deal? What should he care most about, what a bunch of OSU fans think?

And they were all in a tizzy to get him to sign with OSU over Penn St. and Michigan. But he sold The Golden Pants! I guess fans will be fans, especially in Columbus.

45 minutes before? Well they must care more than Pryor . . .
That's fine that the fans like tradition, good for them. But just because Pryor may not buy into their Woody Hayes Is God, Golden Pants, 1950s nostaglia bullS%!+ doesn't mean he only wants to be a pro and doesn't care about OSU as a school and a program.

Say what you will... if UC gave out something for beating Xavier or Miami or whoever and a UC player, especially current player, sold it then I'd be pissed too. I want UC to continue games with those schools because they are tradition as well. That doesn't mean that it makes sense to go to Miami, but I still want UC to play them each year in any scenario.

You really care if some player keeps his trophy? Why? That makes no sense to me. It's his trophy, he should do what he wants with it. As I said before, the players have the experience of playing and winning, many don't care about some trophy that some booster thinks signifies it (or wishes so desperately that HE could have won it), especially if they could get some needed money for it.
I have a family friend that was a major winning pro golfer. He has some memorabilia, but doesn't know where a ton of things are, like some pin they give you for coming in second at the Masters. He won a tournament 20 years ago that gave out these huge Waterford crystal vases to the winner and he gave them to my mom. Who cares about a trophy when you made the winning swing, catch, hit, shot, whatever?
Different scenario... A heated rivalry is a heated rivalry. I want the players for my school to want to win the game as much as I want them to win the game. It is that simple. If you just dump the award for winning that rivalry game then it shows you just didn't care. I fully understand your point... and I'd agree if it were given out for a win over someone you rarely play (bowl game ring, etc.), but when it is the school's number 1 rival I think it signifies more.
