I took a closer look at Jerry Palm's claim that 12 Big East wins might not be enough to get UC into the NCAA tournament.

He's usually pretty good, but I think that's absurd.

The 08-09 Friars definitely did not belong in the tournament that year with an RPI of 79 and only 2 wins against the top 50. Other than Providence, you are correct, better than .500 in the toughest conference will put you in very good shape for an at-large bid.
