Another solid hire. MAC schools have made some really solid hires this off-season.

I envy schools like Miami being able to go after Alumni as coaches... Nice step here and great hire..

Having an alumni as a coach helps protect against the "instant success, instant BCS job" problem MAC schools have had to put up with in the recent past.

Miami has a lot of momentum, and I hope he can capitalize on that without taking a step back. A strong Miami is great for the MAC.

I said it helps. It's not guaranteed, but it does give them an extra reason to stay.

I thought BSU drove away Hoke due to a lack of institutional support.

I suspect that if he is there for a few seasons, Miami's offense will get more explosive. Looks to be a good hire.

Very nice. Three of the MAC schools have taken coordinators from high-profile BCS schools and even KSU got an assistant from the behemoth that is Ohio St.

Does he have a secret condo in East Lansing housing a young gf, and several kids in that stable? Then he is qualified.

Careful...he is a MAC coach now. Getting close to the boundary.

He does have several kids, one of whom is a running back and Treadwell's first recruit at Miami.

As for Coach Heywood, there was nothing secret about having a girl friend and young son. Coach Heywood drove to South Bend every chance he got to spend time with his kid and often had him in Oxford at practices or games.

I don't remember how this stacks up compared to other MAC schools, but Miami just realeased a list of their 5 highest paid employees and new football coach Don Treadwell is #1 at $400,000, plus he can earn some bonus money. The only other coach to make the list was Enrico Blasi, our hockey coach who comes in 5th at $300,000.

That shows a pretty good commitment. If he is good, that is about right.

Absurd.

If you think that is absurd, then you should know that with incentives and bonuses Blasi earned just south of $500k last year!!!!
