Decision Points
So despite voting for GWB in 2004, I became quite agitated with him over the course of his 2nd term. When he went ahead and passed the bailouts and such it sealed his fate for me. I was also quite upset about the lack of Social Security reform. So I started reading his book today, and after the first chapter I already have much more respect for him. It is honest and he touches on some subjects that do not show him in the best light. Also you can start to see some of the events that impact his current views on politics and morals. So far I would recommend it, liberal or conservative. Anyone else reading it or thinking about it? I think I am going to try to tackle some more presidential memoirs after this one.

RE: Decision Points
its interesting that the presidents who probably left the deepest impression on the american people -- washington, lincoln, fdr, jfk, and reagan -- either didn't write presidential memoirs at all, or (in reagan's case) had them ghosted and are of no literary/historical value whatsoever
and the presidents who wrote the most compelling autobiographical works -- nixon and grant -- were greatly reviled for what they did/didn't do while in office. grant's memoirs are not even about being president but just the war instead

What about a guy that wrote two autobiographies on himself before he was 45?

That's probably just his warm-up lap.
