Last year the bowl was on Saturday at 1PM, certainly a lot more fan friendly than a Sunday when many people have to work the next day and the game may not be over until midnight. There were many Motor City Bowls that were during the daytime. They need to go back to that.
I think Sunday (day after Christmas) at 8:30 is better than 1pm day after Christmas. Personally, I think 8:30 is a pretty good time.

It's tough on kids. A TV game especially. A TV game with two passing teams, even moreso.

They weren't given anything---they bought it. If you got the money, you have the power. TV brings the money and therefore, in a real sense, unfortunately owns BCS level college football.
Yeah--probably true. OK, hows this...
ESPN has been given too much power IMO.
Better yet, MONEY has too much power in college athletics.

If we can't sell our allotment with a short drive to Detroit because everybody complains the tickets are too expensive, what makes anyone think we would sell out our allotment if you have to get on a plane to go to the game. The LCB gives ALL Toledo residents and local UT area students the opportunity to experience their HOME TEAM in a Bowl game. If you haven't been to the LCB before, it is a GREAT venue and usually an exciting game. I am hoping that the majority of Toledo residents/UT students do as most are suggesting, that they are buying tickets elsewhere. The support for our TEAM is critical if we ever want to get our program recognized as an elite Mid Major program. Leaving at halftime of home games (no matter the score) and not traveling to Bowl games sends a message that Toledo is small time. I just wish more Fans and students recognized how important they are in building the program. Here's hoping UT shows up Big Time on Sunday!
AMEN, Brother. 5,000, if correct, is pathetic! If the peeps can't spring for $45... they certainly won't be paying for a trip down South or out West. There is a lot more than just high salaries involved in building big time programs and keeping great coaches. But alas... what can we expect... after all, too much of this is town thrives on complaining and shuns commitment.
GO ROCKETS!!! See you at the game (I hope).

On the MAC board it was stated there were 8,000 student tickets sold that didn't count towards the 10,000 ticket count. So that would be 13,000 UT fans.

I HIGHLY doubt that. And why wouldn't the student tickets count? On them they still say $45, but I bet UT just bit the bullet and took a hit on those tickets just so they could try and get students to go to the game, while giving us their worst tickets (corner of the endzone). No one would have wanted to pay $45 to sit in the corner.
I looked on FIU's website and they are selling student tickets for $45, so why would they let us sell $15 student tickets that do not count, but let them sell $45?

Mutually exclusive I would think. I'd pay a lot more to go a nice locale, with a bowl atmosphere, hotel, relaxation... than to go across town for a burger. It may not be the cost so much as return on the money.
It was posted first day by someone, this isn't a Bowl. It's $45, plus gas, plus parking, for a typical home game I'd be more likely to go to if it were held at the Glassbowl. They had a chance to make it a "Bowl" but they didn't or if they did, they forgot to tell anyone and people will find out tomorrow. Maybe there is a pleasant surprise waiting for the panickers.
As for negative Toledo, I think there's more complaining about the complaining then the actual complaining.
One way or the other, fans or no fans, the kids are playing a game tomorrow. Go Rockets!!!

The start time is because of the NFL games on Sunday. If you want the thing on TV so people can watch, you have to live with it. I think the game exposure will more than outweight the inconvenience for the fans.

Not if they didn't have to.
Well, we'll know how many people are going within hours. The weather isn't horrible, so that shouldn't restrict travel. I'm thinking that with all the discounts there could be a lot of people going who otherwise would not. 15 bucks for a bowl game at Ford Field. That's darned cheap.
Now if they'll just keep the $15 customers out of my seat!
(Yeah, I know, it's a pet peeve of mine.)

Whew... thanks for clearing this up. For a minute there, I thought that you were complaining about the Rockets playing in the Little Ceasars Bowl!!
