Also do you really want to see 20K fans in an empty Reliant Stadium on Saturdays in the fall? IMHO, the cougars need to constantly fill Houston Public High School stadium ( not just 1 year) before they dream about a new stadium.
As far as political climate goes, UH again has very few supporters in the State Leg. When the PAC-10 realignment talks happened during the summer, UH had a few politicians( Houston area politicians) stand up and demand that they be included in the Big 12 who wanted to save face in front of their constituency. UT & A&M haven't kept UH down, the lack of support from the City of Houston is what keeps UH from going to bigger and better places.
As far as Big East expansion is concerned, I think the BE should wait until the Big 12 implodes. They might be able to get Kansas, K-State, Missouri & Baylor. If the BE expands now, I truly believe that UCF & ECU are the best options.

I do agree that the Big East does nothing past a possible #10th team until the Big 12 impolodes. On this we can agree.

Nevermind that UH adds nothing to the Big 12. UH doesn't expand our footprint and the Houston TV market is already covered by UT & A&M and to a lesser extent Tx Tech & Baylor.
As far as support goes, just look at your attendance numbers for the last 30 years.

Based on those numbers, it is quite apparent that unless a Big Boy comes to town, the City of Houston, Alumni and Students simply do not support UH with the exception of a few hard core fans.
Please don't bring the 2010 attendance into this discussion because 2010 is the 1st time you have averaged over 30K without the help of UT or A&M since 1980.
