Womens Team vs. Marshall
This could be the best team they have had in awhile. They scored 79 and Humes was not even in double figures. The center position of Shields,Schaeffer and a little bit of Stanton scored 38. Marshall couldn't stop it. The wings combined for 29 so the attack was varied. They were 7-13 from 3pt. land. A little out of character but it helped negate the fact that they were called for 34 fouls vs. 13 on Marshall.

The French player Bairoilhet (or something like that) can shoot. She is a legitimate 6' guard. Something I don't ever remember Kent having. Gibson got in foul trouble and she had to run the point for 10 minutes and she looked OK. The MAC teams will press her though and that could be an issue. You just could not tell today since Marshall did not try to press when she was at the 1.

Some one wanted to know if Marshall had kept improving. I would say no. Even when the fell 15 points behind they just would not shoot from outside. They did get to the basket and drew a ton of fouls but there FT shooting was about 65% so they did not take full advantage. They also committed a lot of TO's. Their bigs were 6"1" tall and 5'1" wide so they don't seem to have taken advantage of being able to get better players in Conf USA. There last MAC teams were better.

This is the type of game you need to have if a team is going to make a run at the MAC title. Several Marshalls will come into the MAC Center during conference play, and it would be nice to know Kent State can win those games without running the same three players into the ground.

After the game I had to look to see where Jenna Stutzman transferred to and found that she is playing for Ashland -DII school. She has been scoring in double figures. With the team that they have this year, she would not have been playing much. She could shoot the 3 but had to be set for the shot. When you go down a division, you don't have to set out a year per NCAA?
I like this team and I was really surprised at the improvement in the post play. This could be an interesting MAC season for the ladies.
