Ohio University football
I had considered Ohio University the 2nd most overrated team in the conference all season. (after Temple)

Consistently however OU was able to keep winning and stay atop the MAC East.

Tonight they wound up out of the the MACC, which is what I had for the most part predicted, but I just want to say, that the Bobcats were a lot better than I gave them credit for this season.

Solich had them running off a nice streak. Losing only the 1st and last conference games of the season and winning them all in the middle.

Really? Because as I watched the Ohio- KSU game today, I wondered how the _ell the Bobcats were contenders for the MAC title. Dropped passes, turnovers, stupid penalties and giving up big plays, I thought they were paying homage to the Doug Martin era.

I was still surprised with that win streak, all the same.
Proved they were a legit contender.
Albeit overrated slighty from the pre-season.

Kent was a real underachiever, yet again.

OU has been playing well as of late, so today's results were a bit of a shocker (at least to me). Obviously they've been inconsistent as evidenced by their loss to one of C-USA's worst teams, Marshall, but they seemed to have put that behind them and really throttled my RedHawks a few weeks ago. I can't explain them playing so poorly today vs. the Golden Flashes..perhaps Kent just came out fired up for their Coach who was resigning, but the Bobcats had a lot to be playing for.

Yesterday I was concerned whether Miami would be left out of the bowl picture, and now it's the Bobcats who will have to watch the scoreboards to see if they get a bowl slot. Man, what a difference a day makes.

RE: Ohio University football
I think a lot of people thought that we had turned the corner after our 3 game skid. So I don't know if inconsistent is the word. More like a Solich's teams have a breakdown every once in a while for whatever reason. In 2006, we played flat against Bowling Green, and last year it was against Kent. But, in both cases we bounced back and went on a winning streak to win the East right after those bad losses. With the winning streak again this year, I think people expected the same thing to happen, but this year we decided to fall apart again before the post-season. I also have to give credit where it is due to Kent here. I think they are very stout on defense particularly on the defensive line. If Kent comes ready to play on defense you really have to go out there on offense with a smash mouth mindset to win. You show a bit of weakness the they will take you for a ride. And we definitely did do things to show that weakness by finding ways to beat ourselves in this game as well-- an old habit of ours that I thought maybe we had gotten past. Congrats to the Flashes on getting the win. No excuses here. You guys earned it and we showed we don't deserve to represent the East this year. And good luck to Miami against NIU. You are going to need it. 03-wink

I think OU still will squeek into a bowl. I am almost convinced that Temple will not get into one having lost to OU, Miami and NIU. 3 losses in this conferance is bad.
