First off you cant compare scores. BCS teams dont need the style points that TCU and Boise need. So once they have the game in hand they bring in back ups or try different plays out and the game becomes a scrimmage.

Secondly I dont care if OSU plays 12 home games as long as they keep scheduling MAC schools and giving out those big pay days. You guys cry about how weak their schedule was but it was filled with MAC schools and is filled with them every year same with the other B10 schools. The MAC is the reason they have such a crappy OOC schedule. I wish Kent would play OSU and UM every year for the pay check.

Are you kidding? The one doing the crying is Gee-"Boo-Hoo, look how tough our schedule is- we play all those bigtime MAC schools."

We KNOW we (the MAC) aren't very good- for Gee to pretend we are, or that the run of the mill BT teams are any better is laughable. I'll take the payday AND the wins over Purdue, Minny, MSU, NW, Penn State etc. That doesn't make OSU's schedule any tougher-if they played Florida, Alabama, LSU USC, Oklahoma, Boise, TCU et al week after week he might have a point but they don't.

And I recall Boise making an open offer for a one and done on the road with any BCS team- no takers.

Exactly....though I don't care for nor agree with what Gee said. It was pointed out earlier in this thread how weak tOSU's schedule is, citing a win over a "so-so" Ohio team, a likely/possible MAC champion. See the irony?

So your mad that be made the MAC sound better then they are? So for one time in the last 60 years someone other then a MAC school says the MAC is bigtime and that upsets you?

RE: OT -- LoL at Ohio State's president
No Irony..... tOSU clearly picks up games against weaker competition (regardless of non-aq affiiation, and dodges games against stronger non-aq teams (Boisie for instance). Add to that a crappy b10 schedule and they have a cupcake schedule. THEY CHOOSE AND CONTROL THIS BEHAVIOR!!!!! MAc teams don't have the same luxury. Yes, we'll take the proceedes from the game becasue WE HAVE TO!!! There is a HUGE difference there!!!!05-mafia

To blame MAC teams for accepting their invites is absolutely ridiculous 01-wingedeagle The Saragins say everything you need to know about sos. 03-idea

I'd say he's merely pointing out the fact that the first MAC team to beat tOSU (AGAIN 04-rock) won't get invited back for another ~90 years (AGAIN 04-rock) 05-stirthepot

Not at all- did I say I was mad? I recall saying his comments were laughable, not anger inducing. The point is he's spouting baloney. He has to know it- the simple answer to the question is for OSU to extend an invitation to Boise and TCU to play a home and home against OSU in the regular season. If OSU dominates and wins all four games Gee can talk all he wants- he might have some credibility if he did that. Why do you suppose he doesn't do that?

I think we should all lock arms with Pres Gee and stand behind him on this. With his backing we can finally pass CUSA and still be miles away from the rest !!! 04-cheers

YES!

Its like when they had an official from the BCS at MAC media days talking about what a competitive conference we have... Its patronizing and damn insulting.

You want to say the MAC does more with less? Thats fine...

But please don't pretend, for a second, the OSU was sweating their OU or EMU games this season.

RE: OT -- LoL at Ohio State's president
I despise Gee. He's obviously a great president for them, but the condescension and holier-than-thou attitude makes me gag. The tired old "we play such a difficult schedule..." excuse is lame and getting more lame by the year. There is ZERO incentive for them to play the Boises and TCUs of the world. They don't have to, and they don't want to. There's nothing to gain, and an illusion to lose, and in the BCS, illusion is reality. It's long past time one of those teams gets a legitimate shot at the title, regardless of what Gee or anyone else thinks. They've earned it ON THE FIELD.

And if the BCS were to go away, he'd be in favor of returning to the bowl system?! Really?? Now why is that? Because the money and prestige stays concentrated in the same place it's always been.

They all have $hit schedules! Get over it, and just beat who you play. Boise, and TCU have no problem doing that.

When I first read that convoluted argument, I thought that perhaps President Gee had been hitting his wife's stash because his resume and current salary would suggest that he has to be smarter than this. However, I found out that they split a few years back, so now I really have no explanation.

You mean an Ohio U team from a very weak MAC East. Their schedule included losses to Toledo and a 4-7 Marshall U.

A "very weak" MAC East? Probably, but then you could call the MAC West simply "weak" in comparison. There aren't that many games separating the two, the difference being two good teams at the top of the West and three really bad teams at the bottom of the East. It was only last year that the East won head-to-head.

BTW, has the Boise president joined in the fray and rebutted Gee?

Think I saw a snippet to that effect.

I saw this story come over the AP wire yesterday and really wanted to run it in our sports pages today to just show Gee is a buffoon but we just didn't have room to run it. But then again, folks here in Oklahoma would probably agree with him.
